Solution Architect - Microsoft Technologies

ACT Government have a number of Solution Architect opportunities for some up coming contract work.
 
The role will be part of a major program to deliver the Payroll and HR Systems modernisation. As a result of this, the program is seeking to engage a Solution Architect with strong experience in across full stack with focus on Microsoft technology. This role will work as part of the program team to review the existing legacy applications and develop architecture with new Microsoft technologies.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop new solutions using Microsoft technologies.
  • Create detailed architectural and design documentation including decision briefs and options paper for both new and updated solutions.
  • Develop backend database code using Microsoft technologies to support new and existing applications.
  • Support the remediation of existing VB6 applications during backend systems upgrades for compatibility and performance improvements.
  • Perform code reviews (as required) to ensure adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
  • Guide and mentor development teams throughout the implementation process.
  • Oversee the integration of various systems and components for seamless solutions.
  • Work with different vendors, assist business analysts with requirements elicitation, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
What they are looking for:
 
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in IT architecture, solution design, or a related field, with a proven track record in remediating legacy applications and developing solutions using Microsoft technologies.
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Technologies such as VB.Net, C#, ASP.Net, JavaScript.
  • Experience in the development of Web Services/ API.
  • Strong experience in using source control software such as Azure DevOps or Git.
  • Strong experience in understanding business requirements using User Stories, Business Process Maps, Use Case and Requirements.
  • Strong experience with T-SQL coding language.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work proactively, autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Experience with Agile Software Development.
  • Strong experience using tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in software development within government agencies and security controls requirements such as ISM, E8. 
  • Nice to have but not essential - Power BI for data visualisation and Business Intelligence tools, reporting tools such as in SSRS. Experience in MuleSoft.
Security clearance is required for these roles.
12 month contract initially 
Rates - $170 - $200 + super ph 
ACT Location - 2/3 days a week onsite.
